Ajay Devgn upset with Salman; sends an emotional message

Ajay Devgn and Salman Khan have been good friends for some years now, but the ‘Dabangg’ star seems to have upset his ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ co-star.

Ajay, who has been working for quite some time on his ambitious project ‘Sons of Sardaar: The Battle of Saragarhi’, was disillusioned when Salman, along with Karan Johar, announced a movie based on the same battle. Karan and Ajay also don’t see eye to eye.

The ‘Shivaay’ couldn’t believe the news of a similar project by Salman initially, but when it sank in finally, Ajay sent across an emotional message to Salman with whom he featured in ‘London Dreams’, ‘Son of Sardaar’ and ‘Ready’.

“Ajay didn’t believe the news initially. He considers Salman family and they’ve known each other for decades. He sent across an emotional message to Salman, the same week as the announcement, through a common friend, saying he hadn’t expected Salman to hurt him like this. He added that it was unfair of him to make a film on the same subject that he and his team had been working on for the last couple of years. He requested Salman not to do the same story if possible,” a report in DNA quoted a source as saying.

‘Sons of Sardaar: The Battle of Saragarhi’ is based Havildar Ishar Singh, who led 21 Sikhs of the 36th Sikhs (now the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment in a battle against over 10,000 Afghan tribesmen in 1897.

Speaking about the big budget project, Ajay had last year said, “I want this project to have the scale of an international epic. Actually, I want it to be one of the biggest films that comes from India. Hence, the prep and the research is extensive. The budget runs into hundreds of crores. For me, ‘SOS’ is not just an ambitious film, it is also a sentimental one."

The report stated a close friend of Salman as saying, "Knowing Salman, he might not have known of Ajay's film. He will never do anything to hurt a friend."
