Ajay Devgn reveals why he broke his no-kissing stance for ‘Shivaay’
Actor-filmmaker Ajay Devgn, in his career span of 25 years has never ever locked lips on screen. But for his ambitious project ‘Shivaay’, he broke his no-kissing on screen rule. The actor will be seen in a passionate kissing scene with co-star Erika Kaar in ‘Shivaay’, which was also seen in the ‘Darkhaast’ song.
Opening up on the reason for finally doing away with his rule of not kissing for films, Ajay told India Today, "I have never felt the need to kiss on screen before ‘Shivaay’, actually. There was no requirement for a kiss in a scene that way, if you know what I mean."
"In this film, the scene was needed. The lovemaking scene had to have the kissing too. You need to build the scene in a proper way, you know. Not just leave out some stuff and have the other. And it is shot very aesthetically," Ajay added.
Polish actress Erika also pointed out, "For even a moment, I did not feel we were doing something extraordinary. It was all so seamless, from the kissing to the entire scene."
Ajay went on to add, "These days, people add kissing scenes in films forcefully because they want to be talked about for some time. Imagine tags like a 'three-minute kiss', 'seven-minute kiss' and so on!"
The actor also dismissed rumours that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) trimmed the lovemaking scene in ‘Shivaay’, before clearing it with a U/A certificate. "No, no. All that are just rumours. Nothing has been shortened or cut," the ‘Singham’ actor said.
Directed and produced by Ajay himself, ‘Shivaay’ also stars debutante Sayyesha Saigal, British child artist Abigail Eames, stand-up comedian-turned-actor Vir Das, Girish Karnad and Bijou Thaangjam of ‘Mary Kom’ fame.
‘Shivaay’ is set to release tomorrow, October 28.
