Aishwarya replaces Vidya Balan in Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Durga Rani Singh’

After receiving mixed response for her comeback film, ‘Jazbaa’, directed by Sanjay Gupta, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has signed two back-to-back films of director Sujoy Ghosh of ‘Kahaani’ fame.

Confirming these developments Aishwarya says, “I’ve agreed to do Sujoy’s Durga Rani and the screen adaptation of Keigo Huganshino’s Japanese novel The Devotion Of Suspect X. I don’t know which one he will start first. We are working on that.”

Talking about her working relationship with Sujoy, Aishwarya says, “I’ve known Sujoy from the time he made his first film Jhankar Beats. He has been offering me films since then. I loved the two films that he offered me now. So I said yes to them.”

It is to be noted that Sujoy offered ‘Durga Rani Singh’ first to his ‘Kahaani’ star Vidya Balan but she opted out due to some differences with the director but lately it was reported that Vidya is back and she reconciled with Sujoy.

A source close to the actress shares, “Vidya and Sujoy recently met and the two sorted out their differences. Sujoy then offered Durga Rani to her again, and she agreed to do the biopic.  It wasn’t too difficult a decision for Vids because she’d already okayed the script before opting out citing health reasons. Now she’s completely fine and is looking forward to teaming up with her Kahaani director.”

“Vidya and Sujoy recently bumped into each other at a coffee shop. She walked up to him, tapped him on the shoulder and said, 'Hi, remember me? I’m Vidya Balan.' Sujoy quickly responded with a smile, 'So, are you the pregnant woman who was looking for her husband in that film?' Both of them burst out laughing. Later, they settled down for a friendly chat and reminisced about their Kahaani days. They even talked about making Durga Rani”, the source further adds.

Going by the latest development, we can say Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has replaced Vidya Balan in ‘Durga Rani Singh’.
