Aishwarya Rai, Vidya Balan most searched on Google

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has topped the list of 20 most searched successful Indian women on Google, followed by Vidya Balan and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, announced Google in an official statement, taking the initiative to mark International Women’s Day.

The former Indian Police Service officer, Kiran Bedi, features among the top ten, too, revealed a Google search trend result on Friday.

The search engine announced the list after a two-month analysis undertaken between January-February 2014.

According to reports in the media, a statement by Google said, “On the occasion of Women’s Day, Google search trends reveal who are the most searched 20 successful Indian women. Kiran Bedi is still among the top 10 most searched Indian women.”

“Two sportswomen, Saina Nehwal and boxer MC Mary Kom, two authors, Arundhati Roy and Shobhaa De and four politicians, J Jayalalithaa, Gandhi, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, also made it to the top 20,” the statement added.

Some of the other names included Nita Ambani, designer Ritu Kumar, actress Shabana Azmi, designer Neeta Lulla, filmmaker Meera Nair, producer Ekta Kapoor, PepsiCo chief Indra Nooyi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, has been in the news recently after deciding to make her comeback following her break after her pregnancy and childbirth. The Bollywood diva, who had earlier acted in a few Tamil movies, will be returning with a bilingual Tamil/Telugu movie directed by P Vasu.

A report said, Aishwarya was very impressed with the script. Vasu reportedly said in a statement that the actress would be seen as a Kalari fighter in the film and for this she would undergo special training.

At the same time Bidya Balan was in the news for her new comedy flick ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’, which released on February 28.

She is one of the most successful Bollywood actresses with several awards in her name, including a National Film Award, five Filmfare Awards, and five Screen Awards, and was also awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014.

Her first successful Hindi movie was the musical-drama ‘Parineeta’ in 2005. This was followed by her role in ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ in 2006. Some of her other successful films are ‘Paa’ in 2009, ‘Ishqiya’ in 2010, ‘No One Killed Jessica’ in 2011, ‘The Dirty Picture’ in 2011, and the thriller ‘Kahaani’ in 2012.
