Aishwarya Rai not in ‘Padmavati’, but in another Bhansali film
Recently, reports were rife that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be doing a special dance number in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati’. But it turns out that the maverick director has indeed, plans to work with the actress, but in the upcoming period drama.
A source close to Bhansali has dispelled the rumours saying there is no scope at all to include another actress in a leading role or a special song is ‘Padmavati’, as is being reported.
“They meet socially. He counts her as one of the few friends he has in the industry. But that’s it. There’s been no talk of working together on Padmavati. The conflict in the plot hinges on the three characters — Rani Padmavati, her husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh and Alauddin Khilji, who falls for Padmavati. Aditi Rao Hydari plays Khilji’s wife. Besides that, there is no other female character,” the source was quoted as saying by a popular entertainment portal.
Reports suggest that Bhansali and Aishwarya will collaborate for a project in future. The filmmaker has in mind a love story set in Kashmir, for which he only wants Aishwarya. The duo has previously collaborated for three films – ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Devdas’ and ‘Guazaarish’.
Meanwhile, ‘Padmavati’ starring Deepika Padukone in the titular character, Shahid Kapoor as her on-screen husband and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, is currently filming.
The period film revolves around the obsession of Sultan Alauddin Khilji for Rani Padmavati, who was known for her intellect and beauty. It is scheduled to release on November 17, 2017.
