When Aishwarya Rai was moved to tears
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was left overwhelmed at the World Congress on Dance Research, when her childhood dance teacher and accomplished dancer Lata Surendra dedicated a performance to the Bollywood actress.
Aishwarya attended the inaugural ceremony of the international event being held in Dadar-Mumbai from December 7 to 11. Looking gorgeous in a dark blue outfit with multi-coloured floral patterns, the actress as a perfect student touched the feet of her dance guru and sought her blessings.
Speaking at the event, she Aishwarya said, “I danced with her from second grade to seventh grade and ever since, dancing became a way of my life. I knew what I was experiencing with her, from her would remain a part of me always. I am very emotional right now. There’s no bigger joy than to see your guru perform and if she does for you, then it becomes a different honour.”
Lata Surendra was also touched by Aishwarya’s regard for her and was all praise for her student and also expressed her desire to teach dance to Aishwarya’s daughter Aaradhya.
“I have seen the growth Aishwarya has undergone in her life. She is the perfect daughter to her parents. She is a beautiful partner to her husband. And when I saw her taking Aaradhya to Cannes, it made me proud of her. Generally, the kids keep waiting for the attention when their parents are at the peak of their career but that’s not the case with Aish. It’s been an honour to teach Aishwarya and now, I wish to teach Aaradhya,” Lata said.
Lata is the vice-president of the International Dance Council-UNESCO and the president of Dadar-Mumbai Section CID of the 49th edition of the World Congress on Dance Research. The five-day event will include seminars, workshops of various dance styles, marking a cultural trade fair of dance with Maestros from across the globe.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by choreographer-dancer Sandip Soparrkar, model Alesia Raut and Ashley Lobo’s Navdhara India Dance Theatre.
