After ‘Kaabil’, SRK to clash with Aamir Khan film at box-office in 2017
The three Khan superstars Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir follow an unsaid rule of releasing their movies, so as to avoid a box-office clash. While Eid is for Salman, Diwali slot is usually taken by Shah Rukh, while for some years now, Aamir’s films have been releasing around Christmas.
While 2017 will begin with the big clash between Shah Rukh’s ‘Raees’ and Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Kaabil’, King Khan is apparently also set for a face-off with Aamir. Reportedly, Aamir’s film ‘Secret Superstar’ is releasing just a week ahead of Shah Rukh’s film with Imtiaz Ali.
‘Secret Superstar’, which already generated a buzz due to Aamir’s quirky avatar and mannerisms, is set to release on August 4. On the other hand, Shah Rukh and Anushka Sharma’s romantic drama, which has been titled ‘Rahnuma’, is coming out in a week on August 11, as Salman had earlier announced.
It is for the first time that Aamir and Shah Rukh’s films will be hitting screens back-to-back. But, earlier also, the films of both the stars clashed, but in a different manner. Aamir launched the trailer of his film ‘PK’ with Shah Rukh’s ‘Happy New Year’. Then just ahead of ‘Chennai Express’ release, a poster of ‘Dhoom 3’ featuring Aamir Khan was unveiled.
During an interview at that time, Aamir had acknowledged “benefit from Shah Rukh's popularity,” but said that it was only a co-incidence.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh makes a ‘special appearance’ in Aamir’s just released film ‘Dangal’, albeit on television when the former’s iconic movie ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge’ is telecast. Critics have given a thumbs-up to the sports biopic.
