After divorce, Veena Malik agrees to reconcile with Asad Khattak

Pakistani actress and ex-Bigg Boss contestant Veena Malik, who divorced her husband Asad Bashir Khan Khattak after three years of marriage, has decided to give him a second chance.

Veena claimed that Asad abused her physically and mentally, and filed for divorce at the Lahore family court while her husband was away in the US, back in January. Since Asad failed to reply to the court’s notice, the court ruled in favour of Veena and granted her divorce.

It is said that the differences between the couple started after Veena decided to return to showbiz, according to Pakistani media reports. “They started fighting a lot when she began participating in the entertainment industry again,” local daily The Express Tribune quoted a source as saying.

The report further stated that Asad is against the divorce and has been pleading Veena to come back to him. Earlier this month, he had even expressed his love for Veena by posting pictures of the couple in their happy times. He also tweeted a quote, “‘A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person.’  I LOVE U my world @iVeenaKhan.”

Recently, the estranged couple was invited on ARY News channel’s show 11th Hour, alongside Moulana Tariq Jameel. The show’s host Waseem Badami had reportedly invited them to ‘facilitate’ a reconciliation between the couple.

Asad used the opportunity and sought for Veena’s forgiveness and said that he asks her for forgiveness “every single day.” The actress, who has appeared in a few forgettable Bollywood movies and item numbers, claimed that Asad abused and assaulted her and said that she won’t forgive him for two reasons. She stated, “First, that he beat me; second, that he disrespected me… not once, but repeatedly.”

However, on the Moulana’s insistence, Veena agreed to give her husband a second chance. "He is asking for your forgiveness before so many people, give him one more chance,” the Maulana told Veena, who put the condition that the Moulana should get a written guarantee that Asad will not give her a reason to complain in future. Asad said he’ll never break the written agreement and Veena too decided to listen to the Moulana’s advice and give Asad another chance in marriage.

Veena and Asad, a Dubai-based businessman, got married in Dubai on December 25, 2013. The couple has two children – son Abram and daughter Amal.
