Aditya Chopra to direct Shah Rukh Khan for a period drama next year

After delivering blockbusters like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Mohabattein’ and ‘Rab Ne Bana Di JodiAditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan are set to reunite for another big project. The film will go on floors in the latter half of 2017.

But unlike in Aditya’s pervious directorials, Shah Rukh will not be playing a romantic hero. Reportedly, the hit pair will be collaborating for a period drama and the ‘Dilwale’ actor will be seen in the role of a warrior. The film will be made with a huge budget, a report in Filmfare stated. The director will be taking his time for research on the subject as it is an absolutely new genre for him.

Shah Rukh will be play a warrior on screen for the second time. Earlier, the superstar essayed the role if king Asoka in the eponymous film of 2001 which also starred Kareena Kapoor.

Speaking about his upcoming project, Shah Rukh referred to it as a “very big project” and said that Aditya has asked for five months of his time to complete the next big film. In an interview to a publication, the actor said, “He (Aditya) told me that the shooting will be wrapped up in three months, but I will have to work with him on characters for two months prior to shooting for the film. I have no idea what he is making, but he has just asked me to keep my dates free next year. He has been planning one film with me after Befikre.”

Meanwhile, Aditya made his comeback as director after eight years with ‘Befikre’ is busy shooting in Paris for the romantic drama starring Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor.

Shah Rukh is also busy with his crime thriller ‘Raees’, the release date of which has been postponed to January next year. He will also be seen in a special appearance in Gauri Shinde’s film starring Alia Bhat. He is also doing a film with Anand L. Rai in which he will play a dwarf.
