Actor Raj Kiran still Missing! Family asks Rishi Kapoor, Deepti Naval to back off

Bollywood actor Raj Kiran, popular during mid 1970s and 80s, suddenly went missing for almost 10 years, and was assumed to be dead. But veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who played the re-incarnated version of Raj’s character in 1980 film ‘Karz’, didn’t give up and tried to located his co-star.

In 2011 during a trip to the US, Rishi Kapoor, with the help of Raj’s brother Govind Mehtani, came to know that Raj was alive, but living a reclusive life in a mental asylum in Atlanta, and paying for his own treatment.

Actress Deepti Naval, who starred with Raj in ‘Hip Hip Hurray’ (1984), was also concerned about her fellow actor and had even posted a message on Facebook which read, “Looking for a friend from the film world his name is Raj Kiran - we have no news of him - last heard he was driving a cab in NY city if anyone has any clue, please tell . . ."

While Raj’s Bollywood comrades heaved a sigh of relief that the actor was alive, his family negated Rishi Kapoor’s claims saying that Raj wasn’t in Atlanta and thus was still 'missing'. Thereafter, the senior actors, who were taking active interest to know the whereabouts of the ‘missing’ actor, also stayed quiet.

According to popular entertainment portal SpotboyE, Raj’s family misunderstood Rishi Kapoor and Deepti Naval’s intentions, and had asked them to stay away from the matter. The report stated that Raj’s brother called up Rishi Kapoor and told him to “Lie low” in no uncertain terms. Rishi informed Deepti about the call and both the actors decided to honour Raj’s family’s diktat.

When the website approached Deepti, she confirmed saying, "Yes, I was told by Rishi that Raj's family didn't want us to help in any way."

She added, "What else could we do except take a step back? We still don't know where is Raj today.  We had heard that he is in an asylum, later we heard that he drives a taxi. It's quite bizarre, but that's the way it is."

While Rishi and Deepti are perplexed about what wrong they did, wonder why Raj’s family considered the senior actors’ concern and help as interference!
