Actor, politician Cho Ramaswamy passes away at 82
Senior journalist, actor and political analyst Cho Ramaswamy passed away at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on Wednesday. He was 82. The former Rajya Sabha member was undergoing treatment at the hospital for some time and died at 3.58 am following a cardiac arrest, according to reports.
Cho Ramaswamy was known to be very close to Jayalalithaa, who too had breathed her last just a day before at the same hospital. He had mentored her during her film career, and even continued to support her after she entered politics.
A multi-faceted personality, Cho Ramaswamy was also a playwright and theatre artist and had also directed and acted in Tamil movies and was also a screenplay writer. He has acted alongside famous artists like Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Jayalalithaa MG Ramachandran and Sivaji Ganesan.
He was the founder and editor of the political magazine Thuglak and was also involved in religious and charitable work.
He is survived by wife, son and daughter.
