Actor-entrepreneur-social activist Preity Zinta turns 41


Dimpled beauty of Bollywood Preity Zinta turns 41 on Sunday. The bubbly actress who was first seen in Liril soap commercial ruled the silver screen during the 2000s with her unforgettable films like ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, ‘Koi...Mil Gaya’, ‘Veer Zaara’, ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ etc.

Born on January 31, 1975 to an army officer father, Preity is armed with a postgraduate degree in criminal psychology. But the girl chose modelling over academics and eventually ventured into the film industry. She made her acting debut in 1998 film ‘Dil Se...’ followed by a lead role in ‘Soldier’ which earned her the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. She received Filmfare Best Actress Award for her performance in the 2003 romantic drama ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’.

Known for her fine acting skills, Preity was heaped with accolades for her role of a teenage single mother in ‘Kya Kehna’ and portraying an independent modern woman in a live-in relationship in ‘Salaam Namaste’. Besides Bollywood, She has also worked in Telugu, Punjabi and English language films. Her first international film role was in the Canadian film Heaven on Earth, for which she was awarded the Silver Hugo Award for Best Actress.

Preity is known for her straightforward, bold and courageous persona. She was a witness in the Bharat Shah case and testified against the Indian mafia. She became the first recipient of Godfrey's Mind of Steel Award at the annual Red and White Bravery Awards for the same.She also filed a complaint against her ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia for allegedly molesting and abusing her.

Priety is also the co-owner of IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab and is a social activist. She has also founded her own production company PZNZ Media and produced the 2013 romantic comedy ‘Ishk in Paris’ starring herself. Thereafter, she was seen in a cameo in the 2014 film ‘Happy Ending’.
