Abhishek Bachchan will do NBA player Satnam Singh’s biopic for free
Abhishek Bachchan said that it would be an “honour” for him to essay the role of basketball player Satnam Singh Bhamara on the silver screen, after the latter mentioned that the ‘All Is Well’ actor was best suited to play his character if a biopic on him were to be made. Abhishek also mentioned he will not charge a penny for the role, but he put forth a condition to the NBA player.
Satnam Singh Bhamara is the first Indian to be selected into the National Basketball Association (NBA), an elite professional basketball league in the US. Recently, in an interview, Bhamara had said that it will be a proud moment for him if an Indian filmmaker decides to make a movie on his life, and that Abhishek Bachchan would be the best to play his character on screen.
“Given Abhishek's height, I would say he would fit in the role even more. Also, he likes basketball a lot," Bhamara had said.
When Abhishek came across the interview on a leading daily, the actor took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Ok @hellosatnam here's the deal.... it would be my pleasure & honour. But my condition is, u have to win a NBA championship 1st!”
“And if you do… I’ll do the film for free. Fees can go towards any charity of your choice. NBA India,” he added.
Bhamara hails from Barnala in Punjab. A feature-documentary titled ‘One in a Billion’ has also been made, which chronicles the player’s journey to become the first Indian-born basketball player drafted into NBA.
