It is Abhishek Bachchan’s birthday on Friday and the actor has reportedly headed to Maldives with his beautiful wife Aishwarya and cute daughter Aaradhya. He will have a private celebration for his 40 birthday in the company of his family members.

Born to legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and veteran actress Jaya Bachchan on February 5, 1976, Abhishek made his Bollywood debut with ‘Refugee’ in 2000. But his major commercial success came four years later with ‘Dhoom’ in 2004. In between, he appeared in a string of many forgettable movies.

But with movies like ‘Yuva’, ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, ‘Guru’, ‘Paa’, ‘Dostana’, ‘Sarkar’, ‘Sarkar Raj’, ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ and the sequels of ‘Dhoom’, Abhishek established himself as one of the leading actors of the film industry.

1. As a child, Abhishek suffered from dyslexia, a learning disability. The world came to know about when superstar Aamir Khan referred to this in his 2007 directorial debut ‘Taare Zameen Par’.

2. He did his early schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School, Mumbai. He also attended Bombay Scottish School which is also the alma mater of his ‘Dhoom’ series co-actors John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan.

3. Before entering into films, Abhishek tried his luck as an insurance agent with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).

4. He enrolled for a business course at Boston University in the US, but dropped out in order to pursue acting. His superstar father Amitabh Bachchan supported his dream.

5. Although, his debut with J.P. Dutta’s Refugee in 2000 was a commercial failure, the film was the fifth highest grossing movie of that year.

6. He showcased his singing talent in his 2005 movie ‘Bluffmaster’ and did the rap for the song ‘Right Here Right Now’sung by Sunidhi Chauhan.

7. It was Abhishek who gave his ‘Dostana’ co-star Priyanka Chopra the nickname Piggy Chops. He started calling Priyanka ‘Piggy Chops’ out of fun while shooting for their film ‘Bluffmaster’.

8. Abhishek’s wife Aishwarya Rai is older to her by over two years. While he was born in February, 1976, she was born in November, 1973.

9. Abhishek and Aishwarya appeared on the popular talk show ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ in September 2009, and the couple was described as more famous than Hollywood actor-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

10. Abhishek has also performed in theatre. He was an important part of Mani Ratnam produced a stage show called 'Netru, Indru, Naalai' in 2005.
