Abhijeet Bhattacharya denies molestation charges

Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who was accused of molesting a 34-year-old woman during Durga Puja celebration, has strongly denied any such unpleasant incident. The woman has lodged a complaint against the singer at the Oshiwara police station, alleging Abhijeet of touching her inappropriately during Durga puja celebrations in Lokhandwala.

Abhijeet, who is also an active organiser of the event, has denied molestation charges.

In an exclusive interview with Times of India, Abhijeet said, "I am shocked and appalled by the news. It's sad that people would go to such lengths for media attention. They should realise that everyone has a family and this disturbs everyone."

Talking about the charges, he further said, "There were women constables who were managing female crowd totally. This is all a part of crowd management, there were so many policemen, security personnel's with walkie- talkies and who were constantly looking out to avoid any stampede like situation. Our aim was not to let our VIPs feel any kind of discomfort and at the same time we also wanted the common people to who had come to the
pandal to get proper darshan. While Kailash Kher was performing on stage, I had come down to help in managing crowd. But I did not touch any woman at all. There were lady constables for doing that."

He went on to add, "Today, one woman has come up. Tomorrow many other might. This is just for media attention."
