‘ABCD 2’ waltzes into the elite 100 crore club


Remo D’ souza’s dance-centric film ‘ABCD 2’ has garnered over Rs 100 crore by the third weekend of its release, dancing its way to the elite 100 crore club. It is the second Bollywood film this year after R. Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, to cross the 100 crore mark.

It is also for the first time that Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Dhawan will join the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and several others, adding a new feather to their caps.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted the information on Twitter in a string of tweets:

“#ABCD2 is the 8th ? 100 cr grosser for Disney India: #RowdyRathore, #Barfi, #ChennaiExpress, #YJHD, #2States, #Kick, #PK and now #ABCD2.”

“#ABCD2 is now the SECOND HIGHEST grosser of 2015 so far [India biz], after #TanuWedsManuReturns, which has crossed ? 150 cr nett.”

“With #ABCD2, Varun Dhawan as well as director Remo D'Souza will march into ? 100 cr club. Shraddha Kapoor's 2nd film to cross ? 100 cr.”

While Anand L Rai directorial ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ collected Rs 150.03 crore in 42 days, ‘ABCD 2’ collected Rs 100 crore within 17 days of its release.

‘ABCD 2’ also collected the highest amount at the box office on the first day itself becoming the biggest opener of 2015 so far.

‘ABCD 2’, which also stars Prabhudeva, is the sequel to the 2013 hit film ‘ABCD: Any Body Can Dance’.
