The film has a very unique concept; it features a girl struck by cerebral palsy – a movement disorder characterized by, stiff muscles, poor coordination, weak muscles etc. Talking about the film, director Shonali reveals the plot, “In my film, Kalki plays Laila, a vulnerable character who falls repeatedly in love, yearns to make physical love and aspires to be a Bollywood songwriter. She is a brilliant mind trapped in a disobedient body. The script was inspired by my younger cousin, Malini, who has cerebral palsy. A few years ago, when I asked my cousin what she’d like to do on her 40th birthday, her response was straightforward; she wanted to have sex.”
