Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ to go on floors from Sept 1


Aamir Khan’s upcoming biographical film ‘Dangal’ will begin its shooting from September 1. The actor will essay the role of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat who is the father and coach of India’s women wrestlers Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari Phogat.  

The schedule of ‘Dangal’ is going to be long and will be shot extensively in Punjab and Haryana. The team will also be shooting in Ludhiana’s Kila Raipur where Rural Olympics are held each year. Aamir had heard a lot about this place and is very excited to shoot in these rural areas. He is also very curious to know more about the place, according to a statement.

Post the release of his film ‘PK’ Aamir had taken up any other film and was preparing himself for his role in ‘Dangal’. He took training and lessons in wrestling, followed diet plans and did work-outs to fit into the role. He has put on and now weighs 90 kgs.

Actress Sakshi Tanwar will play the role of his wife in the film while newbies Fatima Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra will play the couple’s daughters Geeta and Babita respectively. Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar will play the younger versions of the daughters.

Rajkummar Rao will also feature in the film.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Dangal’ is slated to release on December 23, 2016.
