Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth may team up for Rajamouli’s ‘Mahabharat’
After wrapping up the second part of mega project ‘Baahubali’, filmmaker S S Rajamouli is planning to make a film on mythological epic The Mahabharata. Reportedly, Rajamouli is considering to cast three stalwarts of the film industry – Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, Tamil megastar Rajinikanth and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.
“Rajamouli is currently busy with ‘Baahubali 2’, but he is thrilled about ‘Mahabharat’. He wants to take Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth and Mohanlal on board for this project. He is yet to decide on the characters these stars will portray,” Bollywood Life quoted a source as saying.
Rajamouli is expected to make the big announcement soon.
The ‘Magadheera’ maker has decided to include a cast comprising actors from Hindi and South film industry, as he wants the film to cater to a wider audience. Rajamouli's ambitious project will reportedly be shot in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
During the promotions of ‘Dangal’ last year, Aamir confessed that he is a big man of Rajamouli and had expressed a desire to collaborate with him. He also mentioned about a probable movie on Mahabharat. “I am a huge fan of Rajamouli’s work and if he ever plans to make ‘Mahabharata’, I’d love to play Krishna or Karna. I might actually go with Krishna,” Aamir had said.
Aamir and Rajinikanth had previously worked together in the 1995 film ‘Aatank Hi Aatank’ which was inspired by Hollywood film ‘The Godfather’. If Rajamouli brings the duo together, then it will be their second collaboration.
The movie ‘Mahabharat’ will reportedly be made in the next few years and the actors need to dedicate a huge amount of time for the project. Rajamouli was sceptical if such big stars would put everything else on backburner for his dream project. The film will be made on a budget of Rs 400 crore, and will have grand visuals on par with that of ‘Baahubali’.
Meanwhile, Rajamouli is busy completing ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’, which is slated to release on April 28.
