Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao down with swine flu

Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao are down with swine flu. Owing to swine flu, the charming couple missed the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup tournament in Pune. But they got connected to the event via video conferencing and the ‘Dangal’ star said that they skipped the event so that others don't get infected.

Film critic Anupama Chopra took to twitter to say that swine flu was the reason for their absence.

She tweeted, #kiranrao couldn’t be here bcause of swine flu. So he requested @imsrk to come. @satyamevjayate water cup! #inspiration.”

Bosom pal and superstar Shahrukh Khan attended the event to fill up Aamir Khan’s absence.

The event was attended by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis,  Nita Ambani, Shahrukh Khan and others.

The perfectionist works "towards creating a drought-free Maharashtra" through an initiative called Paani Foundation and the event was organized to celebrate villagers' achievements.

On the work front, Aamir Khan’s next production venture ‘Secret Superstar’ is slated to release soon. Aamir Khan plays the role music composer Shakti Kumar.

Initially, Aamir was also not very confident about playing the role. Aamir said, "I did not see myself as the character Shakti Kumar but still I did a screen test - it was a challenge for me to play this character. While I was giving the test, I enjoyed playing the character. When we saw the screen test all of us laughed and I decided to do it."
