Aadesh Shrivastava: 10 memorable tracks of the talented composer

Music composer Aadesh Shrivastava breathed his last on Saturday, September 5 just a day after his 49. After valiantly battling cancer for the second for almost two months, he succumbed and left his family, friends and the whole of Bollywood bereaved. He will be missed, but he will live through the melodious tracks he has composed and sung.

Aadesh Shrivastav’s first break was with ‘Kanyadaan’ in 1993 and since then he has composed music for over 100 films. Here are 10 of his remarkable tracks that are cherished.

O Sajna Dilbar: It was the first composition of Aadesh and sung by melody queen Lata Mangeshkar and Udit Narayan for ‘Kanyadaan’. Though the film could not make it to the theatres, it was a matter of pride for the composer because Lata Mangeshkar has lent her voice to his first composition.

Mein Aa Gaya Jo Kal: One of the popular singer of his times, Kumar Sanu rendered this song for the film Aao Pyar Karen which released in 1994. The video features Saif Ali Khan dancing with Shilpa Shetty’s red hankerchief.

Kya Aada Kya Jalwe Tere Paro: This song from the 1996 film Shastra became a chartbuster as soon as it released. The song was sung by Udit Narayan and the video featured Suniel Shetty dancing along with a group, as Anjali Jathar walks ahead of them.

Pehli Nazar Mein Tune Ye Kya Kiya: Aadesh composed this duet which was sung by the indomitable Lata Mangesh with Udit Narayan. It was from the album ‘Uljhan’ in 2001 which featured Puru Rajkumar and Deepti Bhatnagar. This song made him famous.

Sona Sona: Aadesh composed this ‘pop-Bhangra’ number for Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Major Saab’ which released in 1998. The composer roped in Sudesh Bhosle, the singer who suits Big B’s voice to near perfection. Sonu Nigam and Jaspinder Narula also lent their voice to the song.

Main Yahan Tu Wahan: This separation song is one of his best compositions from ‘Baghbaan’ (2003). It featured the elderly couple portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini who were made to stay separately by their grown-up children. Big B sang it in his own voice along with Alka Yagnik.

Shava Shava: This energetic party number with ‘Bhangra’ beats is from the 2001 family drama ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. A host of singers including Alka Yagnik, Sunidhi Chauhan, Udit Narayan, Sudesh Bhosle as well as Amitabh Bachchan and the composer Aadesh Shrivastava himself lent their voices.

Suno Na Suno Na: Aadesh composed this appealing song for the 2003 romantic movie ‘Chalte Chalte’ and sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya. He gave music to four tracks of the film and the others were composed by his brothers-in-law Jatin-Lalit. Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherji’s crackling chemistry makes the songs as well as the movie unforgettable.

Yeh Hawayein Zulfo Mein Teri: This soft romantic number was soulfully rendered by Shaan and Alka Yagnik for Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherji starrer 2001 film ‘Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai’. Though the film didn’t perform well, Aadesh very beautifully composed this lovely song.

Mora Piya: Aadesh Shrivastava’s semi-classical love song from 2010 film ‘Rajneeti’ had a modern touch with peppy beats and English vocals by Rosalie Nicholson and chants by Shashi in the background. But the composer’s own emotional rendition of the song makes it impressive and memorable. The song featured real-life lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.
