1984 anti-Sikh riots: US court summoned Amitabh Bachchan


Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was summoned by US court in relation to 1984 anti-Sikh riot. The actor was charged with instigating violence by US federal court, according to a TV report. The petition was filed by Gurupatwant Pannum, a member of US-based human rights group ‘Sikhs For Justice’ .

Apparently, Amitabh Bachchan is accused of raising 'blood for blood' slogans against Sikhs on October 31, 1984 following the assassination of the then prime minister Indira Gandhi who was shot by her two Sikh bodyguards.. Bachchan has been given 21 days to respond to the charges.

Thousands of Sikhs lost their lives in the communal riots that took place soon after the death of Indira Gandhi in November 1984.

After Bofors scandal, this is the second time Big B was roped into any sort of legal hassle.
