The music for the film has been composed by Ram Sampath and Pritam’s A&R venture JAM8, while the lyrics have been penned by Javed Akhtar, Amitabh Bhattacharya and Mayur Puri. The soundtrack has been released by Zee Music Company.
Following are the songs of the movie:
Laila Main Laila: It is a peppy song, a reworked version of the classic track featuring Zeenat Aman from 1980 film ‘Qurbani’. Composer Ram Sampath has maintained the original tune by Kalyanji-Anandji, but has replaced the strings and percussion music with nice saxophone sounds and subtle drum beats. Pavni Pandey has beautifully rendered the song. Javed Akhtar has penned the additional lyrics.
Zaalima: The song is a romantic melody in the soothing voice of Arijit Singh and Harshdeep Kaur. The music has been composed by Kaushik-Akash of Pritam’s JAM8 (Just About Music) with strings and drumbeats. A slight Middle-Eastern touch can be noticed in the arrangement. The subtly flirtatious lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya are lovely.
Udi Udi Jaye: It is a traditional dance number composed by Ram Sampath with folksy tune and garba-kind beats. Javed Akhtar has beautifully penned song which also includes Gujarati verses. It has been sung by the ever-energetic Sukhwinder Singh, with Bhoomi Trivedi and Karsan Sagathia complementing him.
Dhingana: This one is a fast-paced foot-tapping song in the vocals of Mika Singh. The lively music has been arranged by Ram Sampath and wife Sona Mohapatra’s music production house OmGrown Music. Mayur Puri’s lyrics speak about the zeal of success.
The short soundtrack of ‘Raees’ is overall nice with sweet and simple tracks. All the songs have good lyrics and musically pleasant to the ears.
