Sui Dhaaga - Made In India

‘Sui Dhaaga-Made In India’ is purely desi in approach. The film promotes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship programmes ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’ initiatives launched. It is a motivational film that inspires one to achieve their dream by beating the odds. The film is set in a lower middle-class society and speaks about two lower middle-class couple, who defeats all the barrier to establish their business.

The film is about a couple named Mauji (Varun Dhawan) and Mamta (Anushka Sharma). Mauji works in a shop that sells sewing machines while his wife Mamta, who is a expert embroider used to do household jobs. Mauji is the sole bread earner of his family.

For many years, Mauji’s father Raghubir Yadav ran their traditional handloom but he is retired now. While his mother (Yamini Das) feel ill and admitted to hospital. The family is struggling to survive. The couple showed immense strength at the time of distress and crosses all the barrier to establish their own business and set up a successful handloom business. They named their business, ‘Sui Dhaaga-Made In India’.

Director Sharat Katriya stiches ‘Sui Dhaaga-Made In India’ very neatly. He extracts the best out of Anushka and Varun. The film is out of their comfort zone but despite this Sharat made them so acquainted with the characters that they proved very real.

Speaking about the characters, Varun Dhawan was exceptional in the part of Mauji. He enters into the skin of the character and enacted the part very naturally. His dialect was up-to-the mark. On the other hand, Anushka Sharma is equally convincing in the role of Mamta. Her get-up and performances wins mind.

Other supporting actors like Yamini Das, Namit Das, Raghubir Yadav are excellent.

Technically, the film is sound. Anil Mehta’s cinematography and Meenal Agarwal’s production design deserves applause. Costume designers Darshan Jalan and Neelanchal Kumar Ghosh deserves accolades. Charu Shree Roy’s editing is satisfactory. Music by veteran Anu Malik is sync with the film specially the song ‘Chaav Laaga’ which is very free-flowing. Andrea Guerra’s background score adds to the soul of the film.

In the nutshell, ‘Sui Dhaaga-Made In India’ is a must watched film for all Indian as it has a desi touch and emotionally very strong.
