Fukrey Returns

‘Fukrey Returns’ a sequel to 2013 hit movie ‘Fukrey’ is back to tickle the funny bones of the audience. And the viral question is whether it has been successful to make the audience laugh, generate excitement and most important whether it is worth the watch.

The characters are repeated in the sequel. We will get to see Hunny (Pulkit Samrat), Choocha (Varun Sharma), Lali (Manjot Singh) and Zafar (Ali Fazal) back to their humorous roles and being chased by lady don Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chadha). She is released from prison early and wants to resume their left off work.

Years passed by and all the characters underwent some changes. Choocha still has bizarre dreams, Hunny is progressing in his business and he has asked permission from Priya (Priya Anand)’s father to marry her. Zafar (Ali Fazal) is planning to marry his girlfriend Neetu (Vishakha Singh). While Lali (Manjot Singh) is almost unchanged, he is still to find a girlfriend and his father continues to think that his son is worthless. While Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chadha) comes out from the prison.

In jail Bholi hatches a plan to earn swag of Rs 10 crore as a return in exchange of her freedom to the wicked politician Bhatia (Rajiv Gupta). To earn the hefty amount, Bholi enters into the life of the quirky Fukras- Hunny, Choocha, Lali and Zafar and then the story takes a hilarious turn.

The sequel has few funny sequences like tiger inside a tunnel, snake bite, hospital scene etc. 

The film is technically sound and the production value is rich, Cinematographer Andre Menezes' has done a marvelous work. He beautifully captures the essence of Delhi. Dev Rao Jadhav’s editing  is fine. Music by Sameer Uddin synchronizes with the mood of the film.

Speaking about the performances, Varun Sharma delivered a top-notch performance. Varun Sharma as Choocha is funny.

Pankaj Tripathi as Panditji is terrific. Richa Chadha as Bholi is a stunner. Pulkit Samrat delivered a free flow performance.

Ali Fazal gets less scope but left mark. Manjot Singh is incredible. Priya Anand and Vishakha Singh add glamour to the comic caper. Rajiv Gupta as a corrupt politician is fantastic.

In the nutshell, ‘Fukrey Returns’ is worth the watch and it will definitely make the audience go ‘haha’.
