Safar (1970) is a tragic movie by Asit Sen starring Sharmila Tagore, Rajesh Khanna, Feroz Khan, Ashok Kumar, Aruna Irani, Mahesh Kumar and others... The beautiful Neela (Sharmila Tagore) and the painter and poet Avinash (Rajesh Khanna) are medical students and attracted to each other. They discover that they are neighbors and fall in love with each other. In the meanwhile Neela tutors Montu and she meets his brother, the rich businessman Shekar (Feroz Khan), who falls instantly in love and proposes to her. Avinash proposes her to get married with Shekar, because he was poor and suffered besides from cancer and he wanted that Neela lives a comfortable life. The both get married and return to normal life after their Honeymoon. Neela continues her studies, but Shekar is jealous of Avinash. One day he confronted her with the fact that she is sill in love with Avinash. As the quarrel escalated, Shekar passed out after taking an overdose of medecine.
