Anjaana Anjaani release postponed to Oct 1


Even though Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are in the thick of promotions for their upcoming " Anjaana Anjaani", Ranbir was unhappy about its release clashing with the day of the verdict for the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case. He had told TOI last week, "A lot of people are involved in the decision-making of the movie, but as a citizen of this country, I'd say that everyone should put their energy into positive things. It's an unfortunate time; at least for me, that the film is releasing on this date." He'd also said that he'd discuss the issue with his producer, and it seems they've paid heed to what he was saying. On Monday, four days before the film was to hit theatres, the film's release was postponed. Says producer Sajid Nadiadwala, "At first, I was in a position where I needed to go ahead with the release. However, there's no denying that the Ayodhya issue is bigger and needs respect. Ranbir had brought it up and we have given it much thought. Ranbir is one of the most looked-up-to youth icons of our time and his point was a valid one. After having mutually discussed this, we have decided to release the film on October 1. The film celebrates life, and hence, releasing it on a peaceful day would be preferred." Director Siddharth Anand seconds this thought, and says waiting one more week is no big deal.
