When Deepika’s parents surprised her
First time in five years, Deepika Padukone’s entire family turned up together for the premiere of her latest film, ‘Cocktail’. Her father ace badminton player Prakash Padukone, her mother Ujjala and sister Anisha attended the premiere of ‘Cocktail’. On seeing them, the actress turned emotional. They were all there to give her moral support.
The premiere of her latest film, Cocktail, was held in a South Delhi theatre and Deepika's entire family turned up without informing her as as they wanted to surprise her. Deepika never accepted them because they never used to come for any premiere.
A source present at the event says, “She was very happy and emotional at seeing her whole family there.” ‘Cocktail’ is a rom-com movie directed by Homi Adajania. Produced by Saif Ali Khan’s banner, Illuminati Films, the film has Saif playing a bindas guy. Deepika Padukone plays the role of Veronica, a modern girl based in London. The film marks the debut of model Diana Pentry in Bollywood.
The role was quite challenging for Deepika as she has not done it before and Dips wants to known her parents’ reaction first. “For Deepika, this film has been a huge challenge as she is playing a character that’s not very conventional. She wanted her parents to give her the first reaction,” says Deepika’s spokesperson.
Apparently, Deepika was given to choose between the two roles — that of the simple Meera and the hip Veronica. She chose Veronica as she has not played the role before. “She played a character similar to Meera in Love Aaj Kal (2009), that’s why she chose to play Veronica as a challenge,” the source adds.
The film hits the theatres today.
