Watch: Sunidhi Chauhan’s impressive acting debut in ‘Playing Priya’
Bollywood’s indomitable playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan made and impressive acting debut with the recently released short film ‘Playing Priya’. The short film is an urban fantasy thriller about a woman who is alone in her house.
The six-and-half minute video has Sunidhi playing the role of a housewife Priya. It begins with Priya standing at the balcony of her house seeing off her husband, played by Mukul Chadda, and their two kids. After they leave in the car, she begins to enjoying her own space making the most of her ‘alone’ time and doesn’t let even the phone disturb her. She is seen prancing around and preening in the mirror. But her happiness is short lived as she hears a sudden noise and footsteps approaching her house. She immediately switches off the lights. The door opens and the person turns out to be her husband who has returned. He gets a call from his wife and tells her that he is coming, but there is a twist here and the movie ends abruptly.
The film barely has any dialogue or a strong plot or story, but Sunidhi is convincing as an actor and conveys her expressions without uttering a single dialogue.
The film has been written and directed by Arif Ali, brother of Imtiaz Ali, who made his Bollywood debut with the 2014 romantic drama ‘Lekar Hum Deewana Dil’ starring Arman Jain and Deeksha Seth. ‘Playing Priya’ is also his debut short film made for Humaramovie YouTube channel.
