Video: When Nargis Fakhri auditioned for 'America's Next Top Model'
American-born model-actress Nargis Fakhri stepped into Bollywood with Imtiaz Ali’s romantic drama ‘Rockstar’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor. She went on to star in commercially successful films like ‘Housefull 3’ and ‘Main Tera Hero’ and also featured in the critically acclaimed political thriller ‘Madras Café’. She was last seen in the recently released ‘Banjo’ opposite Reitish Deshmukh.
Though critics question her acting abilities, Nargis has established herself in Bollywood. As she enjoys her stint in the Indian film industry, an old video of her auditioning for an American model hunt show has surfaced on the internet and has gone viral.
The leggy lass auditioned for the second season of reality show ‘America’s Next Top Model’ in 2004. Nargis appeared as a contestant at the second and third cycle of the show, but failed to make up to the third challenge for the top twelve contestants.
In the video which is cycle three, a 24-year-old Nargis looks quite different. She is seen fumbling with her words and is nervous. The judges liked her ‘body’ and said she had ‘good DNA’ to be a model. But, they didn’t quite like it that Nargis called modelling ‘just a job’ and had not mentioned any ‘favourite or least favourite model’. Nargis is also seen saying that she had participated in the hit reality show the previous season, but was evicted in the semi-final.
Before coming to India, Nargis worked as a professional model for freelance agencies and walked at fashion shows in the US, before coming to India. She also featured in the popular Kingfisher Calendar in 2009, which opened the doors to Bollywood for her.
