Watch: ‘Hate Story 2’ new second censored trailer

The first trailer of the new erotic thriller film, ‘Hate Story 2’ was released on YouTube on 5th June. Within days it has seen three million hits and the producers were hoping to increase the momentum by showing the trailer on TV and theaters. But the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), more popularly known as the censor board, did not allow the first trailer to be aired because of some scenes featuring explicit sexual content. As a result, the makers have released a second trailer which is a censored version, for airing on TV and theaters. The original trailer with the steamy scenes is available on YouTube as a ‘Red Band’ trailer and also on other video sharing sites on the internet.  In the West it is a common practice to release two trailers to avoid ratings issues. With Indian films becoming bolder than ever, this may become a common trend here as well.

A source close to the film has revealed, “Since the film has bold content, the makers decided to make two separate trailers. The Censor Board raised objections to some lovemaking scenes in the trailer as well as the recreated song, ‘Aaj Tum Pe Jo Pyar Aaya Hai’, from the 1988 film, ‘Dayavan’ which has now been sung by Arijit Singh. The scenes were found unsuitable for general viewing.” Vinod Bhanushali from the production house T-Series has also addressed the issue officially, “Keeping the Censor Board in mind, we have released two trailers: one for YouTube and another for theatrical release.”

The film ‘Hate Story 2’ is directed by Vishal Pandya and produced by Vikram Bhatt. The lead roles are played by popular television faces, Jay Bhanushali (‘Dance India Dance’ host) and Surveen Chawla (‘Kahin To Hoga’, ‘Comedy Circus Ke SuperStars’). The supporting cast includes, Sushant Singh, Rajesh Khera and Siddharth Kher. It revolves around a woman’s violent revenge against men who ruined her life. It is being termed as a sequel to the hit film ‘Hate Story’.  The 2012 film starred Paoli Dam, Nikhil Dwivedi and Gulshan Devaiya in the lead roles and also had a revenge theme.  There have been several films in Hollywood about a woman ruthlessly taking revenge on men who harmed her in some way. Some famous examples are films of the ‘Kill Bill’ series. Looks like Bollywood is also taking up the genre. ‘Hate Story 2’ is slated for release on 18th July, 2014.
