Watch: Ajay, Kareena's hard hitting ‘Singham Returns’ trailer
While the film ‘Singham Returns’ will be releasing on Independence day, 15th August, its trailer was launched on 11th July. This Rohit Shetty directed, Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor starrer is a sequel to the 2011 blockbuster ‘Singham’. Naturally there is a lot of interest about this film and the trailer more or less managed to increase the interest about the film and it is now becoming one of the most anticipated films of the year. The film is joint venture between Reliance entertainment and the banners- Ajay Devgn Films and Rohit Shetty Productions. This time the makers are giving extra care to the film’s music as well by roping in three composers- Ankit Tiwari, Jeet Gannguli and Meet Bros Anjjan.
The trailer reveals the two new additions to the cast apart from Kareena. Anupam Kher plays an honest politician fighting against the menace of black money. The film’s main antagonist is Amol Gupte who is portraying a corrupt God-man. The film is set in the city of Mumbai this time and focuses on the hoarding of black money by the nexus of police, politician and other prominent figures of the society. To fight the bad guys, Ajay Devgn returns as the fearless, super cop Bajirao Singham. Ajay’s portrayal of Singham in the original film received a lot of praise and it looks like he is on top of his game this time as well. The trailer is full of bone crunching action and gravity defying stunts. The Rohit Shetty visual signature of cars flying and blasting is also present in full dose. Kareena Kapoor looks as fabulous as ever in the trailer and provides the important comic and romantic relief. She is also seen driving an auto rickshaw. There is also a scene reminiscent of ‘Mission Impossible 3’ where a rocket hits a car and Ajay evades the impact just in time. Also the signature dialogue, "Jisme hai dum, to fakt Bajirao Singham" is repeated back in the movie. From the trailer it looks like the film will be an entertainer of your money’s worth.
However, the film has run into some controversy as Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, a right wing Hindu organization has asked the censor board to ban the film. The group claims that the film portrays Hindu saints in a bad light and hurts religious sentiments of the Hindu community. But so far there has been no development to affect the film and the audience is eagerly waiting for it.
