Warner Bros. files case against Hari Puttar

Harry Potter and Hari Puttar sound quite similar. Harry Potter character is quite popular among children as well as adults. Warner Bros has filed a case against Mumbai -based producer/distributor Mirchi Movies for the Hindi title which is quite similar in resonance. The hearing will be held at the Bombay High Court.

Hari Puttar is a comedy flick that is based on a 10-year-old Indian boy whose family moves to England. "We have recently commenced proceedings against parties involved in the production and distribution of a movie entitled 'Hari Puttar,"' London-based Warners spokeswoman Deborah Lincoln said. "Warner Bros. values and protects intellectual property rights. However, it is our policy not to discuss publicly the details of any ongoing litigation."

Hari Puttar is directed by Rajesh Bajaj and Lucky Kohli and stars Jackie Shroff, Saurabh Shukla and Sarika in the pivotal role. It is slated for September 12 release. Hari is a popular Indian name, and "puttar" stands for "son" in the Punjabi language.
