Vidya-Siddharth's wedding a mix of Punjabi and Tamil rituals
Vidya Balan and her beau Siddharth Roy Kapur’s wedding plans had been kept private until the wedding date arrived.
Siddharth Roy Kapur is the head at UTV Productions and he met Vidya Balan on the sets of “No One Killed Jessica” in 2009. They had been rumored to be dating but never accepted it until they were pictured together at Goa. It was only this year when the two made a public appearance together at Karan Johar’s 40th Birthday bash.
The sangeet was held on the 11th of December. It was a private ceremony with only close relatives and friends attending it. This was followed by the mehendi ceremony on the 12th of December. The only guest from Bollywood to have attended it was Rekha.
Vidya Balan wore Kanjeevaram silk sarees for all the occasions. They had been given a signature touch by the ace designer and her favorite Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
Early reports suggested that the marriage would take place in Chembur at the Sri Subramania temple but the preparations took place in Bandra at the Green Mile bungalow. The wedding ceremonies were held for about an hour.
Siddharth is a Punjabi whereas Vidya is a Tamilian and therefore all the wedding rituals were a blend of both the traditions. Siddharth came dressed as a Punjabi bridegroom wearing a yellow colored kurta and tied a pink turban. Vidya Balan on the other hand, stuck to her traditional silks. She changed her sarees thrice during her marriage ceremony. She was seen wearing a mustard colored saree with a pink blouse to match that of Siddharth. She was last pictured wearing a red and gold colored silk saree in which she looked every bit like a beautiful bride. She wore gold jewelry to go with it.
A source close to the couple informed, “The wedding ceremony was a mix of both Punjabi and Tamil traditions. The food served was South Indian.”
Few of her colleagues from Bollywood tweeted to congratulate the couple. Priyanka Chopra tweeted, “Congratulations to my friends Siddharth Roy Kapur and Vidya Balan! They make such a beautiful couple.. here’s wishing them happiness forever.”
Madhur Bhandarkar, whose last offering this year was “Heroine” tweeted, “My heart filled wishes to buddy Siddharth Roy Kapur and Vidya Balan for the new phase of their lives together. Congratulations to the beautiful couple.”
The duo is said to be planning for a
honeymoon at the Caribbean islands but nothing has been confirmed as of now.
