Vidya Balan’s ‘Begum Jaan’ to release on Apr 14; first poster out

Vidya Balan starrer ‘Begum Jaan’ has postponed its release date. The movie was previously slated to release in January, then it was shifted to March 17, and now it will now hit screens on April 14.

The ‘Kahaani’ actress announced the new release date on her Twitter timeline while sharing the first poster of the film. "14 April it is!" Vidya tweeted along with the poster which only has the film’s title and the names of its makers. It doesn’t have the images of any character of the film.

‘Begum Jaan’ is the Bollywood directorial debut of National Award winning Bengali filmmaker Srijit Mukherji, and is an adaption of his own acclaimed Bengali film ‘Rajkahini’. It has been produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, with whom she worked in 2016 film ‘Humari Adhuri Kahani’.

‘Begum Jaan’ is a historical drama set during the times of Indo-Pak partition in 1947, and will have Vidya in the role of a brothel chief. The movie also stars talented actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Gauhar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Ila Arun, Rajit Kapoor, Akhilendra Mishra and Tinu Anand.

Vidya was last seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh’, along with Arjun Rampal, Jugal Hansraj and Tota Roy Chowdhury. The movie was the sequel to the 2012 blockbuster ‘Kahaani’.
