Vidya Balan turns down Yash Raj,Mira Nair,Pradeep Sarkar films
Vidya Balan is just back from her first outdoor shooting in Australia for the film Hey Baby.Vidya had a blast in Australia and she enjoyed herself on the sets of the film with both director Sajid Khan and co-star Akshay Kumar playing pranks on her. However Vidya mostly enjoyed the fact that she could roam around in Australia freely without being mobbed by fans. Although Vidya enjoys interacting with her fans, she says "I enjoyed the freedom that anonymity brings and enjoyed the luxury of taking long walks alone." Vidya is also extremely excited about 'Hey Baby'and says "The film has great comedy that'll have you rolling over with helpless laughter and also moments that will drive you to tears."
Vidya has been appreciated for all her films so far, first Parineeta, then Lage Raho Munnabhai and even for her role in Salaam-E-ishq.The actress currently has her hands full with plenty of films and hence had to turn down many top banner films like Yash Raj films, Mira Nair's film and even mentor Pradeep Sarkar's film. However Vidya claims that the real reason for her turning down so many top banner films is that she does not have the available dates. She is also unsure whether she will be part of the third series in the Munnabhai film and says "If it's a continuation of the same story,i'll be in. If not, may be not." But unfortunately Vidya will not be able to do the Telugu version of Lage Raho Munnabhai as she does not have the available dates for the film. Vidya will also be doing the Hindi remake of Chandramukhi with filmmaker Priyadarshan but at present the actress does not wish to elaborate on her character. Vidya has worked with producer cum director Vidhu Vinod Chopra in several films like Parineeta, Lage Raho Munnabhai and Eklavya. Vidya claims that all the actors are a little scared of Mr. Chopra but nonethless he's great as a producer and as a director too. Recently Vidya Balan worked with Amitabh Bachchan in Eklavya and she says "Even though I had only a couple of scenes with him, it was an honour to be in the same frame as a man who's an institution by himself." Amitabh Bachchan too seems extremely charmed by Vidya and was very impressed with her performance in Parineeta but Vidya claims she is a little embarassed and a lot humbled by this praise from Mr.Bachchan.
On the film front Vidya was also supposed to be doing Aziz Mirza's film opposite Shahid Kapur, however recently there was talk that the two stars Shahid-Vidya did'nt look compatible onscreen and instead Vidya looked much older. Vidya herself now is unsure about the film and will have to talk to the producers. There were also rumours that Vidya was unhappy with the length of her role in Mani Ratnam's film Guru and that is why she did not attend the Toronto Premier of the film. However Vidya clarifies stating that she was shooting in sydney for Hey Baby and hence could not make it for the premiere. Vidya also had to turn down mentor Pradeep Sarkar directed Yash Raj film as the dates were clashing with Hey Baby. Another Yash Raj film that Vidya was unable to do was Jhoom Barabar Jhoom again due to date constraints.Vidya is also anxious to work with reptued South directors like Rituparno Ghosh but at the moment is busy with her films in bollywood. Vidya will also be seen opposite Ajay Devgan in Rajkumar Santoshi's film Halla Bol.Internationally acclaimed director Deepa Mehta too had approached Vidya to do a film called Stella which is currently on hold. Vidya definitely seems to be very much in demand but the actress tries to remain grounded and also refrains from taking on too many films.
