Vidya Balan to release Urdu version of Mahnaz Rehmatullah’s book
Vidya Balan has been invited to release the Urdu version of London- based author Mahnaz Rehmatullah’s book Mo’s Story in Karachi this week. British filmmaker Michael Radford will be releasing the book along with her. The English version of this book was released by Cherie Blair, wife of British Prime Minister Tony Blair, a month ago in London.
A voracious reader herself and a lover of books Balan claims that it is an honour for an Indian actor to be invited for such a noble cause. She says that her film Parineeta made her popular in Pakistan too and the organizers of the event wanted someone who would represent the essence of India. Her character of the endearing Lolita of Parineeta, won her accolades of praises and the hearts of many.
Balan has also been approached to do the voice-over for the audio CD of the book, which they are planning to record in India. The profits accrued from the sales of the book will be used for the education of children in Pakistan. The project is called ‘Reaching For The Stars’. Balan has involved herself in this noble project as she feels that education is the foremost necessity in any country.
This will be Balan’s first trip to Pakistan and she will be spending two days there. While in this beautiful country, she plans to shop for traditional Pakistani items and indulge in thorough Pakistani cuisine. However, Balan will not be able to attend the Berlin Film Festival where Parineeta has been nominated, as she will be in Pakistan at the time. Here’s wishing her all the luck in her forthcoming ventures.
