Vicky Kaushal opts out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’?
Vicky Kaushal, who was said to have been roped in for a pivotal role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious project ‘Padmavati’, has reportedly opted out of the movie. The ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ actor was supposed to play the role of Padmavati’s husband in the Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh starrer historical drama.
"Vicky Kaushal has opted out of the film considering that the role is very short in comparison to those played by Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone," a report in Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying.
However, when the daily got in touch with Vicky, the actor refused to comment about it and said, “I don't want to say anything about 'Padmavati.' I will start shooting my next film 'Manmarziyan' soon.”
Vicky is known for his critically acclaimed film ‘Masaan’ and ‘Zubaan’. His last release ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’ alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui was premiered at the 69th Cannes Film Festival in the Directors' Fortnight section to a positive critical reception. His next ‘Manmarziyan’ is a love triangle starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead. The shooting of the film was postponed and will now go floors in August.
Meanwhile, Deepika, Ranveer and Bhansali will be teaming up for the third time after ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela - Ram Leela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
‘Padmavati’ is a period drama which will revolve around the character of Sultan Alauddin Khilji - the second sultan of the Khilji dynasty and former ruler of the Delhi sultanate - and his obsessive love for Rani Padmavati of Mewar - who was renowned for her beauty and intellect.
The movie will go on floors in September and will hit the big screen on 15 December 2017.
