Veteran actress Zohra Sehgal dies at 102
Legendary actress Zohra Sehgal breathed her last at 4: 00pm in Delhi today. She was 102. Her family member confirmed her death. Zohra Sehgal’s last film was Amitabh Bachchan starrer, 2007 hit movie ‘Cheeni Kum’ in which she played Big B’s mother.
The recipient of Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan was seen in movies like ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and ‘Saawariya’, ‘Bhaji on the Beach’(1992), ‘The Mystic Masseur’(2001),‘Dil Se’ (1998). Born on April 27, 1912, Zohra Sehgal started her career in 1935 as a leading dancer with the Uday Shankar Ballet Company and travelled the world over. In 1945, she joined Prithviraj Kapoor’s Prithvi Theatre group as an actor.
The grand old lady of Bollywood was also a part of many Hollywood projects like ‘Bend it like Beckham’ to name a few. She also choreographed several Bollywood movies like ‘CID’, ‘Nau Do Gyarah’, ‘Baazi’, ‘Neecha Nagar’.
