Vaani Kapoor to romance Shahrukh Khan in 'Fan'
The industry buzz is that ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ actress Vaani Kapoor will star opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Manish Sharma’s film, ‘Fan’. The Yash Raj production is slated to go on the floors in May this year.
A source reportedly said, “Parineeti Chopra and Anushka Sharma’s names did the rounds, but it appears that Vaani has landed the role.”
Apparently Vaani was not available for comment.
Vaani earned praise for her role in ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, where she had managed to hold her own with her charming screen presence together with her performance. The movie also won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
The film co-starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra, but Vaani certainly made quite a confident beginning. After ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, the actress was seen in ‘Aaha Kalyanam’, the Tamil remake of ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ in 2010, which was a huge box-office success in the South.
Vaani began her acting career in a television series called ‘Rajuben’. Later, she signed a three movie deal with Yash Raj Films.
‘Fan’, the next Yash Raj productions venture, will be directed by Manish Sharma, who is known as a great fan of SRK. The story is written by Habib Faisal and is being produced by Aditya Chopra.
Incidentally, SRK was quite excited about the movie and had reportedly said, “Most of the characters I do are the ones I create… for the first time I am going to play what has created me… I will be in my next a “FAN“.”
And had tweeted, “FAN is a ‘family film’. It’s the family all of you have become for me…the one I didn’t have. I want to be as beautiful as you all. Thanx.”
Reports in the media say Yash Raj films has roped in Oscar-winning make-up artiste Greg Cannon to develop the look of superstar Shah Rukh Khan for ‘Fan’.
The make-up artiste reportedly has already started working on SRK’s look for the film and is said to have spent quite a lot of time at the YRF studio with SRK, Sharma and producer Aditya Chopra.
Greg had been nominated for nine Academy Awards and has won Oscar thrice for Brad Pitt starrer ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ in 2008, ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ in 1993 and ‘Dracula’ in 1992.
The movie is scheduled to release
across India on August 14, 2015.
