UP draws criticism: Akhilesh Yadav gives 1 crore to Madhuri
Saifai seems to be the present location of who is who of Bollywood. Saifai is a remote village that is the ancestral place of the Samajwadi party head Mulayam Singh Yadav and that of the UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav. The place has been in media focus due to the fair organized there, the ‘Saifai Mahotsav’. The big budget event held there has almost all the big names of Bollywood performing there. The government has been under severe criticism for organizing the lavish fair instead of paying attention for the betterment of the suffering populace.
The 14 days long fair ended with a grand finale on Wednesday night. The Samajwadi party honchos didn’t keep a stone unturned to make the make the closing day a memorable one for the viewers gathered at Saifai as well as the high profile performers of Bollywood.
Beautiful Madhuri Dixit and handsome Salman Khan were part of the two dozen Bollywood performers on the closing night. The popular feet tapping Hindi film numbers were belted out to the immense delight of the audience and the stars tried to oblige the fans to by dancing on the numbers. This was live entertainment at its best.
The state government of UP fearing criticism from all quarters did its best to hide the fees paid to the Bollywood starts for their performances at Saifai. However, the young UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav could not restrain himself back from announcing rupees one crore for the film ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ as soon as he heard that it was a Madhuri Dixit starrer that is releasing this Friday. The reason sited for this generous spending of the government money was that the film was shot majorly in Uttar Pradesh. For the same reason, the film ‘Bullett Raja’ was also awarded one crore.
The Yadavs are well known for their liking of Hindi films and their artists. The producers of the movies ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ and ‘Bullett Raja’ cannot agree more as they out of the blue bagged a neat rupees one crore. They can thank their stars for the sudden turn of events that made them get the lottery. But will this one time gesture help popularize shooting of Bollywood movies in UP.
As the Saifai Mahotsav came to an end, Dharmendra Yadav the MP from Badaun announced that the fair will be conducted next year too in a much larger scale.
