Bollywood industry has been running strong from decades delivering wonderful movies and beautiful scripts for the audience to enjoy and relish. But now, it seems our film makers have run out of ideas for the movie script as well as how to promote a movie to appeal the audience. Initial appearance of the movie stars in popular TV shows was acceptable, but when you see actors turning barbers and making “jalebis” for movie promotions, you can’t help being surprised by their weird acts. Here is a look at some of such acts.
Aamir Khan who is known to be a perfectionist, showed off his perfection in the promotional skills also when he used the hair style of the protagonist of the movie to promote the same. He successfully weaved a promotional event around the hair style and even got into a barber’s shoes to make sure the success of the event. A hair styling competition was held in IMAX Mumbai, and people went crazy to adopt the unique style to get instant attention.
The producers of the mindless comedy movie, unable to think of any innovative way to promoting the movie, decided to do so by organizing jalebi making competitions in various sweet shops. Inspired from the item song “Jalebi bai” in the movie, the promotion event was a sorry show of creativity by the production team.
This movie which had Shahid Kapoor and Genelia D’souza as the lead pair was a big dud at the box office. The movie disappeared from the theatres in no time and the people forgot that such a movie was ever released. For the promotion of the movie, the makers decided to follow a unique but mindless way. The lead actor and actresses of the movie were asked to spend a whole night inside the car. For whatsoever reason this promotion trick was approved by the production team, it proved to be highly embarrassing for the stars that were surrounded by media the whole night with curious onlooker trying to peep inside from the tinted window glasses. Now, can it get weirder than this?
The promotional events failed in an equally embarrassing way as the movie itself. The cast of the movie was to reach a real life wedding quite advance in time, but they ended up reaching the venue one hour after the time of commencement. In a separate promotional event in a mall, Akshay Kumar was seen venting his frustration saying “Go watch this guys, I need a hit desperately”.
