Trailer: Watch Jimmy Shergil, boxer Vijender Singh in 'Fugly'
Bollywood ‘Khiladi’ star Akshay Kumar launched the preview of his upcoming production venture ‘Fugly’ with the film’s lead actors and debutants. The actor, who is busy with his own film ‘Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty’, sporting an impressive moustache, appeared for the release in a checked jacket with pants and sneakers.
‘Fugly’ is directed by actor turned filmmaker Kabir Sadanand, where another sportsperson, world boxing champion, Vijender Singh, makes his Bollywood debut. The film features Anil Kapoor’s nephew debutant Mohit Marwah in the lead role. Besides Vijender and Mohit the movie also stars Jimmy Shergill, Kiara Advani and Arif Lamba.
At the launch, Akshay was seen introducing to the crowd Anil Kapoor’s nephew Mohit Marwah where young stars Vijender, Mohit and Kiara were all smiles. Jimmy Shergill was also seen joining the youngsters for a small jig on the stage.
The trailer of the film shows a story about four youngsters and their experience with the Delhi police. The movie is produced by Akshay Kumar’s production house Grazing Goat. Reportedly, the film has guest appearances by Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan as well.
The movie is slated to release across cinemas on June 13.
Vijender Singh is an Indian Olympic boxer from Kaluwas, Bhiwani district in Haryana. He practised boxing at the Bhiwani Boxing Club, where Coach Jagdish Singh recognised his talent and encouraged him to take up boxing as a profession. He was coached by the Indian Boxing Coach Gurbaksh Singh Sandhu.
Vijender had won medals in different competitions at the national level, when he was chosen to train and compete at some of the international level competitions such as the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics and the 2006 Commonwealth Games. At the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, he won the bronze medal after losing the semifinal against Kazakhstan’s Bakhtiyar Artayev. At the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, he defeated Carlos Góngora of Ecuador to win bronze medal — the first ever Olympic medal for an Indian boxer.
Anil Kapoor’s family is the second famous Kapoor family in B-town and has seen quite a few new talents of-late, such as Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor. One can also count Ranveer Singh, but the latest to add to the list is Mohit Marwah.
Mohit has earlier, worked as an assistant director in Vikram Bhatt’s films, after passing out from Lee Strasberg Acting School from the US and Marwah Studios in Noida.
