Ekta kapoor is better known for her production of serials in the Television industry and has chosen the life behind the cameras unlike her father – the yester year actor- Jeetendra who is known more for his acting skills in front of the camera.

Education-

Ekta kapoor was born on June 7, 1975 and was exposed to cinema industry from childhood due to her father’s occupation as a popular Bollywood superstar. Ekta Kapoor early education was in the form of schooling from Bombay Scottish School and later on joined Mithibai College.  She quit her education in the midst as she was not interested to pursue further academic education and was more interested in becoming an entrepreneur.

Growing as an Entrepreneur-

Jeetendra already knew about his daughter’s entrepreneurial skills and therefore advised her to dabble in the field of TV-serial production. At the young age of 19, she entered into TV-Serial production by starting her own production company Balaji Telefilms. She completely changed the face of Television industry by producing excellent Television Serials that were watched by whole families especially women in India and was responsible for bringing in a healthy competition in the field of Television industry. She is now the creative director of the Balaji Telefilms. Ekta kapoor holds the title of Queen of Television Industry. For her entrepreneurial skills, Ekta Kapoor was awarded with the Ernst and Young (E & Y) startup Entrepreneur of the Year award-2001.

Television serials that brought Ekta Kapoor in limelight-

Ekta kapoor got her name and fame for producing Television Serials that broke all the records and TRP ratings thereby capturing the imagination of the Indian masses. She brought professionalism in the field of Television Serial Production that was absent before her venturing into this field. The following serials bought her name and fame during 2000 to 2012 and that include-

Ekta Kapoor also produced the first e-fiction soap “Bol Niti Bol” which is a major fictional web sequence in India and has crossed 500,000 web watcher marks within a month of its start.

Entry into Film Production-

Ekta Kapoor also ventured into film production by producing and co-producing more than five Bollywood movies such as-

Under the banner of Balaji Telefilms, Ekta Kapoor has produced more than 25 serials and and several Bollywood movies. The net worth of Balaji Telefilms was Rs.148 Crores as of 2009 but due to fall in the stock market, the share value of her production company declined to 70% in recent times.

Personal Life-

Ekta Kapoor is best known in the entertainment industry for her strong belief in astrology and numerology. She makes sure that her numbers come up to a total of three, six or nine. Today she lives with her parents in their house in Mumbai.
