The inspiring brother-sister duo in Bollywood
Bollywood can boast of a few brother-sister pairs, who have been able to carve their own niche in the industry. These duos have made considerable contributions to the film industry with their projects. They are famous, they are talented and they are making a lot of money currently with the success of their films.
Let us take a look at few of these brother-sister ‘jodis’ in Bollywood who have made it big.
Zoya and Farhan Akhtar-
This duo is definitely gifted. Both are directors and their kind of film-making has given Bollywood films a different direction. Farhan took a step towards directing films in 2001 with “Dil Chahta Hai” that went on to become a cult-film. His sister Zoya entered the film industry with an unconventional film “Luck By Chance” that starred her brother. Their recent venture together was “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” that swept all the awards this year.
Today Farhan has delimited himself. He is a director, producer, actor and singer. He also writes many of the dialogues for his films. Zoya too is talented and has written the story of her films. They are the children of the genius lyricist Javed Akhtar, therefore it is only normal for them to have a flair for writing.
Soha and Saif Ali Khan-They are the children of the famous actress Sharmila Tagore of former times. Both have seen the glitz and glamour of the industry from close quarters from a very tender age. Today they both are established stars, though for Soha is has not quite been a smooth sailing despite delivering a hit like “Rang de Basanti”. Saif on the other hand, had started on a similar note but gained full swing in the last decade. Today he has also turned a successful producer.
Farah and Sajid Khan-
They have always seemed to share a very friendly rapport and both have also made a mark in Bollywood. Farah started off her career as a choreographer who received a lot of applause for her dance compositions in films. Later, she ventured into direction, her first being “Main Hoon Na” that was a hit. The blockbuster “Om Shanti Om” proved that she is here to stay.
Sajid Khan after being unsuccessful at acting started directing. His first, “Heyy Baby”- a comedy- was a hit. After that he directed “Housefull” and “Housefull 2” both of which have been successful. Farah even choreographed the song “Anarkali” for her brother.
Ekta and Tusshar Kapoor-
The children of veteran Jeetendra, Ekta and Tusshar have been able to hold ground of their own in a very competitive industry. Ekta started off with producing serials in the small screen. Today her production house meant for films is one of the most sought-after, especially after the hit of “The Dirty Picture”.
Tusshar has not been able to be that successful but definitely has one character to his credit- that of the dumb and mute character of ‘Lucky’ in the Golmaal series. Also the brother-sister duo have collaborated in a number of films like “Shor in the City”, “Kya Kool Hai Hum”, “Shootout at Lokhandwala”, the very recent “ The Dirty Picture” and many more. All of these films have either been hits or at least have received a green signal from the critics. They have again joined together for the film “Shootout at Wadala” which has a lot of expectations.
Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor-Kareena and Ranbir are first cousins. They are the most popular and efficacious duo. They are good-looking, they are famous and the most fine and superlative actors.
She has “Heroine” coming up this year which is a Madhur Bhandarkar film and surely has chances of being a block-buster. He has the much-awaited “Barfi” hitting the screens in a few months’ time that will again explore and expand his unmatched acting skills.
It’s a little
difficult for the both to share screen space as lovers but we surely hope that
they share the podium for winning awards at the awards ceremony next year.
