The Dirty Picture goes to France
Balaji's controversial 'The Dirty Picture' continues to go places. The biggest cult release of 2011 will now have a major art-house release in France on July 4. Released with French subtitles, it will show on three screens in Paris and one in Orleans. After the initial run, it will travel to smaller towns in France and Paris suburbs, releasing in all major art-house cinemas there.
An elated Milan Luthria said, "C'est fantastique! We are now invading France. I am confident the French will react with great fanfare to our film and pick up all subtle nuances of character and performance. We will call the team over for some hors d'ouvres (open hours) and exquisite French wine to celebrate. As for me, I'd have loved to be in France on July 4 but I am caught up with the pre-production of Once Upon A Time In Mumbai.....Again"
Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures, said, "It's a happy feeling when your baby goes places. The French are great creators and connoisseurs of films with a distinctive appeal in the world cinema market. We're glad that our cult film will be resonating with the audience in France. Our next plan is to give it a wide release in Korea and other markets where some recent Bollywood titles have been performing incredibly.
