The Couple Quotient
As long as we have known Bollywood has always been a platform for fame, glamour and glitz. It has also been a platform for love and romance both on the reels and in reality. The hottest Bollywood onscreen pairs often turn out be love birds behind the camera as well. Reel life chemistry and real life bonding obviously have differences. In many cases the magical off screen compatibility fails to turn out successful on celluloid. Below are enlisted some of the top pairs having been cast opposite each other in Bollywood films.
1. Saif and Kareena
The elegant royal like couple does not succeed in casting the same spells on the audience on screen as they do off it. Saif and Kareena are both stars of great repute; however they never received the well deserved applause when they worked together in films. “Tashan” for example fared really low at the multiplexes. The action adventure movie “Kurbaan” although being praised by the critics, didn’t score well at the box office. Even a big budget, extravagant and blingy film like “Agent Vinod” couldn’t do the magic it was supposed to.
2. Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor
Contrary to the popular belief that off screen couples are equivalent to on screen disaster, Neetu and Rishi make the most adorable couple on screen. They have been star casted together in a total of eleven films. The most recent one being “Do Dooni Char” for which Neetu also bagged a special nomination for the best actress in one of the award shows. However this charming couple will always be remembered for rom-coms such as “Rafoo Chhakkar”.
This magnificent duo not only spreads the joy of love on screen but does the same off-screen too. Jaya and Amitabh are considered as the pioneering couple of Bollywood. They met on the sets of “Guddi” where Amitabh starred in a guest sequence. After that they starred together in evergreen romances and dramas such as “Zanzeer”, “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham” and “Abhimaan”. Amitabh and Jaya effortlessly manage to showcase their love both in front of the camera lenses and behind them.
The charming Twinkle and the handsome Akki make a pictorial pair. However this gorgeous couple never managed to score anything better than an egg at the box office. After working together in major flops such as “Zulmi” and “International Khiladi” it is strange that the pair even found interest in each other. This is one such Bollywood couple which is best seen off the screen.
