Earlier, actresses would be type cast into playing sister in law, elder sister or even a mother in films as soon as they crossed the 30’s mark. But times change and so does Bollywood. An actress is considered hot when she turns 30 and becomes one of the most sought after ones in the industry. Here’s a list of the 30 plus actresses who are ruling Bollywood today.

She stormed into Bollywood with Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi and the film was critically acclaimed. Her marriage to Jyoti Randhawa and a subsequent motherhood kept her away from the silver screen for some year. She returned with some not so popular films like Ye Saali Zindagi and Sorry Bhai but her ultimate launch pad was Desi Boys where she donned a super glamorous avatar and film contracts came pouring in. Now she has Race 2 and I Me Aur Main in her kitty apart from a raunchy item number in Joker.

She
is the former Miss Universe and now the wife of Mahesh Bhupati and mother of a
toddler. But being a householder now, she hasn’t given up on her fitness. She
has already signed her next film and released her Parental yoga DVD for
expecting mothers.
Bipasha Basu
She is 33 now and already has a Hollywood film to her
credit. This former Gladrags super model had started out in the Bhatt camp but
ended up becoming a globally known actress without the help of any Godfather.
Her Hollywood venture ‘Singularity’ will surely bring more success to this
dusky beauty.
Kajol
Who can forget the Shah Rukh- Kajol pair in DDLJ? They
immortalized on screen romance with this subtle romantic movie. In real life
however her hubby Ajay Devgan is her
love and they are perhaps the cutest couple in Bollywood. Marriage spelled a break
from movies for Kajol but she came back to woo her fans with Fanaa opposite
Aamir Khan. This actress maintains her bubbly image even after becoming the
mother of two kids.
Rani
Her smile is like a thousand bulbs being lit at the same
time. She was a top notch actress during her “Black” days but her career slowed
down after Babul. She resurfaced with a bang in No One Killed Jessica and the
audience couldn’t have enough of her bold and raw avatar. She is 34 now and
will be seen in a lavani item number in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Aiyya’
Aishwarya Rai
She is definitely the most beautiful woman on Earth and
proud mum of a tiny 6 month old. Aishwarya Rai has come a long way since Devdas
when she was just 28. Ten years hence, her aura remains unmatched. Although her
post baby flabs are engaging some unwanted media gossip but this does not
perturb this woman of substance.
Kareena Kapoor
The youngest in the 30’s league, Kareena Kapoor is the
highest paid actress in Bollywood today. She has some really amazing films to
her credit like Jab We Met and Kurban. In Kurban she had starred opposite her
better half Saif Ali Khan. It would be interesting to note that she is the
first actress to have played the love interest of all the three Khans (Shah
Rukh, Salman and Aamir) on screen.
Vidya Balan
After Dirty Picture and Kahani, Vidya Balan does not need an
introduction. This 34 year old actress has proved her worth in the industry and
now almost every director wants a part of Vidya in their films. Take the
example of the recent “Mala Jau De” number from Ferrari Ki Sawari. Vidya’s item
number is already a hit and it helped promoting this relatively non starry
film.
