Tamil actress Jyothi Lakshmi dies of cancer
Veteran Tamil actress and dancer Jyothi Lakshmi passed away today around 12 AM. She was suffering from cancer for a long time and was undergoing treatment. Aged 68, Jyothi Lakshmi’s health deteriorated over the past few days and she succumb to death. She is survived by her daughter Jyothi Meena.
"She was suffering from blood cancer for a while and had been undergoing a treatment. She passed away earlier this morning," an industry source told IANS.
She will be laid to rest at the Kannammapettai cremation grounds, Chennai. Jyothi Lakshmi worked in over 300 movies. She worked in all the southern languages movies like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Having debuted in the year 1963 with the MGR-starrer Periya
Idathu Penn, Jyothi Lakshmi mostly appeared in dance numbers and negative role.
A trained dancer, Jyothi Lakshmi starred in popular movies like ‘Pilla Pidagu’,
‘Bangara Babu’ and ‘Gandharva Kanya’ to name a few.
She last appeared in Tamil adult comedy ‘Trisha Illana Nayanthara’. Many celebries mourned the death of the popular actress.
