Tabu dazzles in red saree at the Golden Globe Awards


The film “Life of Pi” has garnered a lot of attention from the filmmakers, and audiences worldwide. The film was based on a novel written with the same title. It was written by Yann Martel- a Canadian writer. The film depicted the journey and survival of an Indian young boy in the seas. He finds himself stranded on a life-boat. He resists a storm and also lives with a tiger while on the boat.

This film has been directed by Ang Lee who directed the famous film “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Brokeback Mountain”.

The film “Life of Pi” after amassing appreciation worldwide was nominated for the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards. At the red carpet event were spotted our Indian actors Suraj Sharma and Tabu who also acted in the film. Irrfan Khan also had a prominent role in the film but he was missing from this red carpet event.

Tabu has always been recognized as a talented actress. She has been known for her offbeat choice of films that have always been commendable. She chose to remain true to her origin as she sported a saree on the occasion.

She wore a bright red saree and teamed it up with a golden blouse that was heavily embroidered. Suraj Sharma, who made his first appearance in films with “Life of Pi” wore a formal suit with a crisp white shirt. He completed his look with a bow tie. He radiated confidence and style on the red carpet.

At the award function this film won the award for ‘best original score motion picture’. Mychael Danna won this award for this film. Others who were nominated for the same category were Alexandre Desplat for “Argo”, Johnny Klime, Reinhold Heil and Tom Tykwer for “Cloud Atlas”, John Williams for “Lincoln”, and Dario Marianelli for “Anna Karenina”.

Mychael Danna shared the award with the film’s director and said while receiving the award, “Thank you to Fox for being crazy enough to make this movie.”

The film also got a nomination for the best director (motion picture) and best motion picture (drama).

Tabu will be seen next in the film “David” that is being directed by Bejoy Nambiar. The film is set in three different eras and focuses on the life of three gangsters. Neil Nitin Mukesh, Isha Shervani, Vikram, Lara Dutta, Monica Dogra and Vinay Virmani will be seen in this film in pivotal roles.
